It all started as a joke some years ago on a trip to Peru. I had just purchased a brand new Canon EOS camera. Among other great features, it was equipped with a mode specifically designed to take pictures of food. Somehow I felt obliged to make the best use of that. While taking pictures of my lunches and dinners, I would always make sure to tell my friends that I am obviously doing this for my food blog. This quickly became a running gag. Over the years that joke never appeared to get old. Until December 2019, when my friends decided it was time to take it to the next level by giving me a food blog as a birthday present. Uwelicious Kitchen was born.

BEHIND MY COOKING
My first cooking attempts started rather late. It was during my student years. Once I had moved out of my parent's place, I had little choice but to have a go at it. Based of a thin recipe book, handwritten and photocopied by my mom, I started to do my first discoveries in the kitchen. Preferably in a social setting. It quickly began to grow on me.

Recipes were never seen as a strict set of rules but merely guidelines to understand what goes and what doesn't. A little more of this, a little less of that. What if I add one of those on top? The same old dishes would evolve over time, one iteration at a time. New ones were discovered along the way and new flavours unlocked.

The recipes you find on the Uwelicious Kitchen blog are a collection of the latest and gratetst. From German classics to international cuisines' favourites, you will find your simple staples everyday food but also more elaborate experimental creations.
